Online Therapy in California, Texas, and 40+ States

Los Angeles online therapists and psychologists providing telehealth therapy to physicians, executives, entrepreneurs, lawyers, and high-achieving professionals anywhere in California, Texas, and 40+ states across the U.S.

Depth-Oriented Telehealth for Physicians, Executives, Entrepreneurs, and Other High-Achieving Professionals

Helm Psychology is an online therapy practice. Every session we do is virtual, and it has been that way since the beginning.

This wasn't a pandemic pivot or a temporary convenience measure that stuck around. We built the practice around telehealth because the people we work with need it to be this way.

Our clients are physicians on unpredictable call schedules, executives who travel three weeks out of the month, business founders running companies across time zones, and attorneys whose calendars look different every single day.

For people in these kinds of roles, consistency matters more than anything in therapy, and a format that requires showing up at the same office at the same time every week is likely to break before it ever gets off the ground.

Online therapy removes that barrier.

You can be in your home, at the office, a hotel room, or your car between meetings. Therapy happens where you are, and that way, therapy stays consistent even when the rest of your life is anything but.

How Online Therapy at Helm Psychology Works

We do psychodynamic, depth-oriented therapy through a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform. That's it. No apps, no texting platforms, no asynchronous messaging. The same kind of serious, in-depth therapeutic work that has always happened in a therapist's office, but virtually.

If you've done therapy before, it will feel familiar. You show up to a scheduled session, your therapist is there, and we talk. The format is video because that's what lets us actually see each other, read expressions, and build the kind of real therapeutic relationship that our therapeutic approach depends on.

Here's what a typical week looks like:

  • Therapy is weekly. For ongoing work, we meet weekly at minimum, because depth-oriented therapy depends on consistency. Anything less, and too much time passes between sessions, so you end up spending the hour catching up instead of going deeper.

  • Sessions happen via a secure platform. All you need is a private space and a reliable internet connection.

  • You can be anywhere. Home, office, hotel, wherever you have privacy. That flexibility is the whole point. Your schedule can shift, your travel can change, and therapy keeps going.

  • Therapy intensives are also available. For clients who need longer sessions (two to four hours) held less frequently, we offer therapy intensives. Same depth, bigger container. These are especially useful for professionals whose schedules may genuinely not allow for a weekly standing appointment.

Most of our clients are high-achieving professionals who chose us specifically because we're online. They wanted a therapist who actually understands their world, and online therapy is what makes that match possible regardless of geography.

Why Online Therapy Works for High-Achieving Professionals

We'll be straightforward about something: online therapy isn't better than in-person therapy in some abstract sense. It's better for the specific population we work with, and for specific reasons.

Privacy

Many of the professionals we work with care deeply about confidentiality.

Physicians worry about running into patients or colleagues. Executives don't want to explain where they go every Tuesday at 2pm. Attorneys in small legal communities don’t want to be seen walking into a therapist’s office. Online therapy eliminates all of that. Nobody sees you arrive or leave.

We also don't use AI in our therapy: no AI scribes, no AI transcription, no session recording. No one and nothing is eavesdropping on our time together. If you work in medicine or law, you already know why we're saying that out loud.

Consistency despite chaos

The biggest threat to therapy isn't a bad session. It's missed sessions.

And for people whose weeks involve call shifts, last-minute travel, board meetings that run over, and school pickups that collide with everything else, the commute to a physical office is often what kills the rhythm.

When the session is wherever you are, cancellations drop, and the work stays continuous.

Access to the right therapist, not the closest one

We specialize in working with people in high-pressure professional roles. That's a pretty narrow clinical niche.

The odds that the best therapist for what you're dealing with happens to have an office near yours are probably low. Online therapy lets you work with an online therapist whose clinical expertise and professional experience actually match what you need, rather than someone who's just geographically convenient.

Comfort can actually help the work

Some of our clients do their best sessions from their couch at home, shoes off, in a space where they feel safe.

For people who spend their entire day performing, managing impressions, and controlling how they're perceived, showing up to therapy from a place that already feels private can make it easier to say the harder things.

Who We Work With In Online Therapy

We provide online therapy to high-achieving adults in demanding professional roles. Most of our clients are the person their family and their team depend on, and they've been doing that for years:

  • Physicians: Online therapy for physicians who have to work around call schedules and shifts that change every month. Video is what makes that survivable.

  • Executives: Online therapy for executives means sessions from wherever you are, without opening a two-hour hole in your calendar for the drive. We work with CEOs, C-suite leaders, finance professionals, tech executives, and senior leaders across industries.

  • Entrepreneurs and founders: Funding rounds and launches don't always respect a standing in-person appointment. Online therapy for entrepreneurs travels with you, keeping therapy going anyway. We work with startup founders, business owners, and post-exit founders, wherever they are and whatever stage they're in with the business.

  • Lawyers and attorneys: Billable-hour pressure, and legal communities small enough that walking into an office each week risks being its own kind of disclosure. Online therapy for lawyers sidesteps all those hazards.

  • Entertainment, tech, and finance leaders: Senior professionals in high-visibility, high-consequence roles where discretion matters as much as the work does.

We also provide therapy intensives for clients who prefer longer sessions held less often. These work especially well for professionals whose schedules are genuinely unpredictable and who can't quite commit to a weekly standing appointment.

All of our work is psychodynamic and depth-oriented. We go underneath the surface-level symptoms to understand what's driving them. If you've tried therapy before and it helped for a while, but the same patterns kept coming back, this approach is probably what was missing.

Getting Started with Online Therapy

Step 1: Free 15-minute phone consultation

We'll talk briefly about what's going on, what you're looking for, and whether our approach sounds right for your situation. → Book a consultation

Step 2: Initial session

If things feel like a fit, we schedule an initial session. We get to know you, talk about how we work, and decide together whether this is the right match.

Step 3: Ongoing weekly sessions OR therapy intensives

We meet weekly on a secure platform. You'll have a consistent time on the calendar, but the flexibility of online therapy means sessions can happen from wherever you are.

Need a different format? If weekly sessions don't fit your schedule, ask us about therapy intensives, which offer longer sessions held less frequently.
